Date: Sept. 25, 2014
Location: Nashville, TN

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today made the following statement on Nashville-based HCA Healthcare's donation of $1 million to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation to help respond to the Ebola epidemic:

"I'm glad to see such a prominent Tennessee company joining Samaritan's Purse and Doctors Without Borders and others in understanding the size of the response that will be necessary to control the Ebola epidemic in West Africa."

Yesterday, Alexander hosted a roundtable with Vanderbilt University Medical Center experts and state health officials to discuss the need for an urgent response to the Ebola outbreak and highlight the work being done in Tennessee to prepare for this and other potential threats. At a special joint committee Senate hearing on the Ebola epidemic last week, Alexander, the senior Republican on the Senate health committee, said, "We must take the deadly, dangerous threat of Ebola as seriously as we take ISIS."
